Hope in the Future
If there is hope in the future, there is power in the present. The reason is simple: Hope in the future has a dramatic impact on your thinking today. Our thinking today determines our performance today, and our performance today has a direct bearing on your future. Our past is important because it brought us to where we are, but as important as our past is, it is not nearly as important as the way we see our future.

We are had problems of our past (e.g. depression, abused as a child, suffered through bankruptcy, raised by alcoholic parents). All of these things are traumatic events that affect the way we act. Despite all these things, the way we see our future us even more important.

Men and women are limited not by the place of their birth, not by the color of their skin, but by the size of their hope. Make friends with our past so we can focus on today, which will make our tomorrows even better. I am not talking about denial of reality; what I am talking about is facing reality, but facing it in an optimistic way.
